We decided to take a couple of days on the west coast and sleep in the car. At Marstrand we met Frida’s sister, her boyfriend and their dog Banksy who went up from Skåne a day earlier. We kept the corona neutral by buying what we needed from home and kept to ourselves during the days we spent on the coast.
Marstand is very nice and is known for the historically important fortress called Carlsten fästning (Carlsten Fortress) that you can see from the whole community. The fortress began to be built in the middle of the 17th century. To take the ferry over to the island it is located on is a must if you have a bit of historical interest.
Unfortunately, it was, like much else in 2021, closed due to changed opening hours, but despite that we could walk around and see the mighty building from the outside. Incidentally, the island itself is picturesque and just beautiful.
We decided to take a kayak trip in the coastal archipelago where Sebastian chose to take a dip while the rest of us did not dare in the cold water.
The trip out was windless and fantastically nice but unfortunately the weather turned and we had a constant headwind on the way home.
The trip itself was still worth it and highly recommended. Most special was perhaps the very nice but somewhat special man who rented the kayaks to us at Marstrand kayak rental.
