Fjälkinge, Skåne

After a night at Frida’s sister’s home in Lunnahöja, we packed up and went on to midsummer celebrations in Tosteberga, east of Kristianstad.

We stopped just outside Fjälkinge by a large field with wild flowers in all its colors.

Children (and adults) took the opportunity to run away from some restlessness and kick some football in the idyllic surroundings. When we had filled the roof of Sebastian’s car with flowers, he realized that the car keys were locked in the car..

After a while, the tow truck arrived and we were, fortunately, helped to open one of the car doors. We went on towards Tosteberga.

Tosteberga is an idyllic place with nice, rural houses in the Scanian style that are close to the roads. We set up our big 6-person tent and got ready for the midsummer celebration. The celebration took place in Sebastian’s father and wife’s beautiful garden and around 30 people came from both Sweden and the United States. We danced around the midsummer pole, ate lots of good food and cake for dessert. It was a long time since I celebrated Midsummer in a nicer way and the children played non stop.

Once the children had fallen asleep, we adults split up into different plots (Sebastian’s brother lives on the plot next to their father). We talked late into the night warmed by the blankets while the others sang, played and partyed on in “Rockstugan” well into the morning hours.
