New years Eve in Poland
We escaped the typical New Year’s celebrations in Sweden and to Poland! Our journey from Stockholm to Gdansk was filled with excitement, and to our surprise, we were greeted by both the sun and pleasant temperatures ranging from 2 to 8 degrees durig the four days we spent here.
Old Town
Discover the enchanting Old Town of Gdansk, just a stone’s throw away from the hotel. Yep, we’re that close! The unbeatable location gives us easy access to the city’s captivating history and vibrant atmosphere. And hey, even if the complimentary breakfast didn’t quite hit the spot, we weren’t here for that! We were here to soak up the genuine essence of Gdansk and dive into its local cuisine, packed with authentic flavors.
The Food
Definitely Worth Mentioning
Manna 68
During our stay in Gdansk, there’s a restaurant that absolutely deserves a mention and a visit. It’s called Manna 68 and it’s located in the heart of the old town. We stumbled upon this hidden gem while browsing through Trip Advisor, where it holds the remarkable second place out of almost 800 restaurants in Gdansk. Its popularity was so apparent that we couldn’t secure a table on our first attempt, but luck was on our side the next day as we managed to snag a coveted spot by one of the restaurant’s two windows. As for the food, I went for the no pasta lasagna, while Frida indulged in some delectable noodles and desserts, all accompanied by a glass of red wine and Prosecco. Every single bite was an absolute delight, and considering the reasonable price of 202 PLN, it’s truly a steal. I cannot stress enough how highly I recommend Manna 68. To give you a taste of our experience, I’ll even share a snapshot of the receipt here. Please keep in mind that it was just a quick photo taken with my phone, so don’t judge the quality.
Also Worth Mentioning
We had a fantastic time exploring various restaurants and cocktail bars during our visit. While Manna 68 stood out as the best, there are a few other places worth mentioning. The black truffle pizza at Pizzieria Sempre, located by the river, was simply delicious. When in Gdansk, Pierogarnia Mandu Gdańsk Śródmieście is a must-visit spot with its impressive offerings and popularity. Both Manna 68 and Mandu are highly recommended for those who prefer making reservations rather than standing in line. At Mandu, we were pleasantly surprised when a waiter approached us to take our drink orders while we waited – something we’re not accustomed to due to Sweden’s strict alcohol regulations. Another hidden gem that deserves your attention is Winston Bar. We visited on both a Friday night and New Year’s Eve, and their expertise in crafting delightful drinks is truly remarkable. Tucked away in the old town with limited seating, this cozy bar is a true delight for cocktail enthusiasts. Make sure to check it out!
Breakfast
As mentioned, if you’re looking to savor a delightful breakfast while in town, I highly recommend heading over to Billyś American Restaurant . Their menu showcases the best of American cuisine, offering generous and flavorful dishes that will surely satisfy your cravings. With their emphasis on size and taste, Billy’s promises an authentic American dining experience that will leave you fully satisfied.
