2023: Not That Great

In times of adversity, it is the glimmers of hope that keep us moving forward. Despite the challenges faced and the losses endured, 2023 unveiled unexpected opportunities and newfound stability through immediate employment. While the role of a photographer at one of Sweden’s largest festivals was lost, it served as a reminder to embrace the unforeseen. 2023 was a year of twists and turns, bringing both trials and triumphs that left an indelible mark on the journey ahead.

I gave up on something

They say that you shouldn’t give up on things you enjoy. Well, in some ways, that might be true, but for me, it was time to move on. I love photographing, and through the years, I’ve spent a lot of money and time to progress, achieve goals in both knowledge and experience. I had shelves of both expensive gadgets, cameras, and lenses. I’ve also filled them with a lot of stuff I at one time thought I needed. But sometimes, growth means letting go.

Letting go of the attachment to material possessions and embracing the unexpected. It’s in these moments of release that we discover new opportunities, find fresh perspectives, and shape our own unique path forward. So, I gave up on something and found a world of endless possibilities.

Family: A Bond Beyond Measure

In a world filled with distractions and fleeting desires, it’s incredibly easy to lose sight of what truly matters. As we enter 2024, let’s rekindle our awareness that the essence of life lies in the heartfelt bonds we form and the invaluable experiences we hold dear. While the allure of work and material possessions might fade into insignificance, the love of family, the unwavering support of friends, the profound richness of relationships, and the indelible memories we create are the foundations that endure. Let’s fully embrace the incredible power of connection and revel in the sheer beauty of shared moments. Prioritizing the authentic sources of joy and fulfillment is crucial, for it is these intangible treasures that not only shape our personal journey but also leave an everlasting imprint on the tapestry of life.

You'll Never Know When We Have to Let Go

I Sold Everything

Sure, there will be times when I wish I had lenses for shooting at a distance, a wide angle for those magical nights, and the comfort of having multiple cameras and different options for light setups. However, without all of that, I can now focus on what initially inspired me to embark on this journey – capturing pictures that truly move me. That means capturing moments with my family, friends, and children, and simply documenting life itself. Just taking photos to preserve history, my history.

Of Course I Still Need a Camera

I couldn’t really decide. I’ve seen great things about the Fuji X100V, and I was also drawn to the Leica Q2 and the new Q3. Since one of my goals was to keep it simple and stop spending too much on gear, the Q3 was off the list pretty fast. Also, it’s a lot of MB to store, and I do take a lot of images. I also noticed on fujirumors.com that the sequel to the X100V is right around the corner, so I was supposed to wait, but I couldn’t. I actually saw someone on YouTube talking about the problems getting the X100V when it was new, and the next gen will probably be as or even more popular, so I bought the Fuji. If the rumors about 40MP for the “X100VI” are true, I might change cameras later on for my only go-to.
